Joseph El Kadi, Collin Smith and Laura Torrente-Murciano published an article in The Chemical Engineer (the Institution of Chemical Engineer’s magazine) about the potential roles of hydrogen and ammonia in energy storage. This article was part of a Clean Energy Special Interest Group series on the Hydrogen Economy. In this article, ammonia is explored as a complementary future energy vector to hydrogen, and we highlight that ammonia has properties that make it particularly attractive for balancing the seasonal variation of renewable energy supply in a carbon-free society.
